Video shows carload of women attacking Popeyes drive-thru workers in Florida

As customers waited in the drive-thru lane of a Popeyes restaurant in Lantana, four women got out of a car, attacked an employee and grabbed cash from the register before fleeing, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

Another drive-thru customer, Demarco Quant, recorded the attack on video.

“It started to go crazy, yes,” he said, Wednesday. “It was a moment I was totally shocked by.”

Deputies are searching for the four women involved in the robbery that happened just after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurant at 7049 Seacrest Blvd., southeast of Interstate 95 and Hypoluxo Road.

When they drove up to the window one of the women passengers got into an argument with the cashier, spat at and then attacked the employee. Deputies didn’t say what sparked the argument.

“Because they were females I just assumed there wouldn’t be any weapons so that made me more comfortable [about recording the video],” he said.

Three other women got out of the car and began attacking two other employees inside the restaurant. One of the women reached into the window and grabbed money from the register before the group drove off, detectives said.

The whole incident lasted less than two minutes, said Quant, 33, of Coral Springs. One of the women sprayed something through the window before they drove away, he said.

“They pepper sprayed them,” he said. “I couldn’t walk into the restaurant because everyone was running out coughing.” It’s unknown what type of spray was used.

Deputies are looking for a silver-gray Nissan Sentra with a Florida license plate of GVZP04.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the robbery or the identities of the women to call Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 800-458-8477 or online at crimestopperspbc.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
