Video shows Willis Tower carjacking crew robbing restaurants, too — and one of them wears Bob Ross undies

Chicago police released more videos and again asked the public for help as they try to apprehend a violent crime crew that has committed a series of armed robberies, shootings, and carjackings across the city and suburbs. In one high-profile case, they carjacked a driver outside Willis Tower on Wednesday morning.

One of the group’s favorite crimes is robbing fast-food restaurants at gunpoint by crawling through the drive-thru window. In one robbery captured on surveillance video, an armed man is seen crawling out of a restaurant drive-thru with cash flying and his pants falling down to expose underwear featuring the face of PBS television painting instructor Bob Ross.

Police linked the crew to restaurant robberies in:

  • the 6100 block of South Harlem in Summit at 3:37 a.m. January 16
  • the 5600 block of South Harlem at 7:19 a.m. January 17
  • the 12800 block of South Harlem in Palos Heights at 4:28 a.m. January 19
  • the 5500 block of West 159th in Oak Forest at 4:42 a.m. January 19

The men have also committed a series of carjackings, including the one outside the former Sears Tower, and street robberies. One of those robberies was reported in the Loop moments after Wednesday’s carjacking

A source said the team is also being eyed in shootings, including one in Oak Park.

Anyone with information about the group can contact Area Four detectives at 312-746-8252 about case JE-116833.
