Joe Buck, Troy Aikman caught mocking stadium flyovers: ‘Your tax dollars at work’

Military flyovers have been a regular occurrence at NFL games over the years, but it seems that Joe Buck and Troy Aikman aren’t too keen on them.

Ahead of Fox’s telecast of Sunday’s game beween the Packers and Buccaneers the two were caught making fun of flyovers, which have drawn criticism in recent years for what many consider wasteful spending, after one happened above a mostly empty Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

“That’s a lot of jet fuel just to do a little flyover,” Aikman said.

“That’s your hard-earned money and your tax dollars at work,” Buck quipped in response.

“That stuff ain’t happening with the Kamala-Biden ticket, I’ll tell you that right now, partner,” Aikman concluded, referring to the Democratic Party presidential ticket of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

There is nothing on Biden’s campaign website to indicate whether he would limit flyovers at NFL games or other sporting events if he were elected.

The Washington Post estimated last April that flyovers by Blue Angels (U.S. Navy) and Thunderbirds (Air Force) squadrons cost at least $60,000 per hour. The Post published that figure within a story about President Donald Trump’s plan for flyovers above nearly two dozen U.S. cities to salute front-line workers treating COVID-19 patients. The money would have come from the Pentagon’s budget, a senior military official told the Post.
