Amy Schumer reveals she is undergoing ‘emotional’ IVF treatment, asks for advice

If you’ve ever undergone IVF treatments and looking to guide someone through the process, Amy Schumer needs your help.

In an Instagram post shared on Thursday, the comedian revealed she is going through IVF treatments and looking for advice.

“I’m a week into IVF and feeling really run down and emotional. If anyone went through it and if you have any advice or wouldn’t mind sharing your experience with me please do,” Schumer wrote alongside a photo of her bare stomach covered in bruises. “My number is in my bio. We are freezing my eggs and figuring out what to do to give Gene a sibling.”

The “Growing” comedian’s post received praise, support and love from celebrities and fans who shared encouraging messages.

“You got this mama,” wrote Katie Couric, who is a mom to two daughters. “Sending you lots of love!”

Any Schumer’s future plans

Selena Gomez, who just released her highly anticipated album the same night as Schumer’s post, sent her prayers to the comedian and her husband.

“I’m praying for you and chris. I’m sorry!” Gomez wrote.

Other people began opening up and sharing their own experiences with IVF treatments in Schumer’s comments.

“First off, thanks for being so open about your journey. In a world of gender reveals and birth announcements it’s difficult when you struggle with infertility. The IVF process is more so emotionally exhausting, just remember you are stronger than you know and keep faith that it will all work out!” wrote @whoinvitedcolleen before offering up a piece of advice. “Sending so much love. Take it easy and have some Colace on hand after the retrieval”

MMA fighter Nina Ansaroff also opened up about her own infertility struggles.

“I am currently doing IVF as well. The first couple weeks are the toughest. Stay busy and stay positive. My wife has helped me stay calm as I’ve been an emotional mess,” she wrote.

Schumer welcomed baby Gene with her husband Chris Fischer in May 2018.

Schumer had a rough pregnancy, suffering the effects of hyperemesis gravidarum (acute morning sickness) throughout the nine months. It forced her to cancel numerous shows but it also made for great Instagram posts and stand-up fodder.
