He made it a meth-odist church.
A Maine man has been charged with turning a kids’ playroom in a Methodist church into a meth lab.
Matthew Anderson, 33, was busted after officials at Buxton United Methodist Church alerted police on Thursday to “suspicious activity” inside an upstairs playroom at the house of worship, Buxton police said.
Officers then called in the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency after finding “items that are consistent with the manufacturing process of methamphetamine,” the force revealed in a statement.
Anderson was charged with unlawful operation of a methamphetamine lab. He was being held in York County Jail after failing to post his $50,000 bond, police say, and is due in Alfred Superior Court on Jan. 24.
Meth Lab Uncovered At Methodist Church – Buxton
December 5th, 2019 At approximately 0854 Hours Officer Eric Sanborn and Officer Warren Day received a suspicious activity complaint at the Buxton United Methodist Church located at 276 Chicopee Road. After speaking with the complainant, the Officers responded to the church and conducted an investigation.
While on scene the Officers located items that are consistent with the manufacturing process of Methamphetamine. These items where located inside an upstairs designated children’s playroom at the church. Members from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA) responded to the scene to assist officers with the investigation.
Through the investigation process a suspect was identified as MATTHEW ANDERSON (DOB 04/20/1986) of Buxton. ANDERSON was later arrested by Officer Scott Camire at a residence nearby on an unrelated arrest warrant. After interviewing ANDERSON about the incident, He was charged by Maine Drug Enforcement Agency for Unlawful Operation of a Methamphetamine Lab, a Violation of Title 17-A § 1124.2 a class B Crime. ANDERSON’S Bail was set at $50,000 with conditions. ANDERSON was unable to post bail and was transported to the York County Jail (YCJ) in Alfred. ANDERSON is expected to appear in Alfred Superior Court on January 24th, 2020.
