Kids are getting bolder these days (damn, that makes me sound old), and this news is no exception. A 9-year-old from Florida publicly challenged President Trump to go vegan for the month of January. If the President successfully does so, 9-year-old Evan will donate $1 million to veterans.
Well, technically Evan himself won’t be donating the money, but Million Dollar Vegan, a nonprofit that Evan works with, will donate the money to a veteran’s charity of the President’s choosing, according to Fox News. Million Dollar Vegan is the same advocacy group that asked Pope Francis to go vegan for Lent. The Pope did not end up going vegan, but did respond by saying Evan would be in his prayers, so there’s that.
The New York Post broke the recent story, as videos and advertisements of Evan explaining the rules of the challenge went live online and on social media. The video shows Evan wearing an American flag bowtie, explaining the benefits if President Trump decides to go vegan. “If he goes vegan for January, he’ll be showing that he wants to make America healthy again,” he said. “All he has to do is agree to eat delicious plant-based food for one month.”
Evan himself has been vegan since he was five years old and runs an Instagram account with over 15,000 followers where he posts about his vegan lifestyle. President Trump has not yet responded to the challenge at the time of this post, and Million Dollar Vegan has a countdown on its site counting down the days until the offer expires.
